February 11th - 14th

The Lenten season is nearly upon us!  This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and our class will be the Mass leaders at 9:30 at St. Anne's.  A reminder that the Lenten season is a somber time of refelction and waiting for the death of Jesus and then the celebration of Jesus' death, also remember to fast on Ash Wednesday (two snacks, one meal if you are between the ages of 18 and 60) and to avoid meat on Friday's during Lent.

Also, this week is only a 4-day week because of the teacher-in-service on Friday.

Math -  We are continuing to explore dividing and the different methods of doing so.  Students should expect homework every evening this week.

Social Studies - We have finished with our Oklahoma book and now are going to begin the study of the regions of the U.S., students will be using a new book and a work book for the rest of the school year.

Vocabulary - We completed our spelling test last week for Unit 11 and now we will move on to the vocabulary test for the same unit.  Students will also have a mild amount of homework due Thursday.

Religion - In preparation for Lent we will be discussing the things we can add or remove from our lives to try to grow closer to Jesus.  I encourage all of you to keep track of things you and your family are 'giving up' or 'adding in' during the Lented season and strive to hold yourselves and your children accountable.

Did you know that...?  Sunday's are not technically days of Lent so you are not supposed to fast on Sundays.  That doesn't mean that one should over indulge though; everything in moderation!
