September 24th - 28th

Math:  We are continuing our exploration of multiplication by looking at various methods of multiplication as well as further our knowledge of the factors of 11 and 12.  We are will also be delving into finding the quotient using multiplication and the inverse ability.

Social Studies:  Our Map test was originally scheduled for Monday but due to some confusion amongst the students I have moved it to Thursday, see last week's post for the word list and a map printout to practice on.


Language Arts/Writing:  We are nearly ready for our first Grammar test which will probably be occurring next week sometime.  Students should be able to identify; the complete subject, the complete predicate, the simple subject, the simple predicate, a compound subject, a compound predicate, a run-on sentence, and a sentence fragment.

In Writing we will begin writing our first draft of our book report on the book Because of Winn-Dixie.

Spelling/Vocabulary:  We are beginning Unit Four in our Spelling/Vocabulary book, below is a list of the words for the next two weeks.  Spelling test will be this Friday per usual and Vocabulary test will be the Friday after.

Religion:  In religion class we will continue to discuss the role of Moses in the book of Exodus and draw parrallels from Mose's role with the Israelite people, to our own guardians' role within our lives.

Math

We are getting into multiplication and division and their relationship to one another this week during math, there will be a small quiz on Friday.  This quiz should be fairly simple, if students can complete the homework during the week they should have no trouble with the quiz.  (Quiz became take-home quiz over the weekend)

Writing

In writing we will be beginning our rough drafts of our book report on Because of Winn Dixie, students will have significant class time to work on this, so there should be little to no homework with this.

September 10th - 14th

We will be having a math quiz on Wednesday on the three main concepts from Chapter One; writing numbers in various forms (standard, expanded, and written form), identifying the value of spot on a number line, and estimating/rounding numbers.
